On 19 May 2016, the new Mercedes-Benz Museum will be celebrating its tenth anniversary. On the same day and as part of the extensive anniversary celebrations the new “Masterpieces” special exhibition will be inaugurated: at the heart of the exhibition is the E-Class with seventeen vehicles spanning seven decades. A photo collage of fashion, technology and communications devices from the corresponding decades completes the vehicles on display. The exhibition will run until 6 November 2016 in the collection room C 5. The Museum’s birthday gets underway on 19 May at 5 a.m. with a pre-work party which is already fully booked. Free special tours will also be held throughout the day from 9 a.m. Entry to the Museum is free of charge on 19 May between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The new special exhibition in the Mercedes-Benz Museum tells the story of the E-Class as the innovator of the brand in terms of safety, comfort and design. The exhibition stars nine model series from the 1950s to the most recent E-Class, launched this year. In this process, the dialogue between different body shapes, from saloon to estate, coupé and cabriolet, creates a particular sense of excitement.
Photos relating to fashion, technology and communications also help place the vehicles in their respective eras. Telephone box, rotary-dial and push-button phones along with mobile phones take pride of place alongside petticoats, flares and Eighties style to bring the decades tangibly to life.
